Emotional relief, inner clarity, and forward movement

I use a body-based somatic process, to gently guide you into what’s happening beneath the surface. We explore and sit with how things feel in your body, making space for meaningful shifts.

I suffered from a lack of intuition and massively struggled with decision-making. Focusing with Louisa made me realise that my body holds deeper wisdom and that I can access it to make decisions faster and more intuitively. The work I did with her was transformative.

Can Focusing really help me? What's the evidence?

Can Focusing really help me? What's the evidence?

If you’re asking this, you may be wondering whether something this gentle can truly create change.Consider this question:Why do some people change deeply in therapy while others stay stuck?Psychotherapist Eugene Gendlin reviewed hundreds of hours of therapy to find out. He clearly identified that the people who could connect with their emotions and bodies were significantly more likely to have better outcomes. From there, he developed Focusing.Focusing is now recognised as an evidence-based somatic practice, scientifically shown to:- Support emotional regulation,
- Improve decision-making,
- Reduce anxiety and depression,
- Enhance overall wellbeing.
My role as a guide is not to analyse you or force anything. It is to hold an attentive and caring space, and guide your attention towards what your body is already holding. I then help you communicate with the parts of you wanting attention, in a way that feels right for you.

  • I guide you inside with caring responsive attention and non-judgement

  • I help you sit with & name what feels subtle, layered, or hard to put into words

  • I offer gentle suggestions when something needs support or deepening

  • You leave with clarity that feels embodied, integrated, and truly your own

What people say about Focusing with Louisa

It's my honor to creating a safe and inviting space for people to explore their emotions in an embodied way. Here's what people say about their focusing experiences with me.

"I hadn’t experienced Focusing before. As a practitioner of meditation and healing, I was curious to know about it.Louisa was absolutely amazing. I felt very held in the space, very safe, and that I was in good hands. She works as a guide to gently lead you into yourself, helping you explore what you have going on. I didn’t go in with an issue, so I had no idea where it would lead.I found the session particularly good at getting into your ‘blind spots.’ In my own meditations this is not so easy to reach, whereas a Focusing session has you speaking aloud. Having Louisa as a guide really deepens your ability to ‘see’ your stuff and how you react in your life.Very powerful, very helpful, and insightful. I can’t recommend Louisa enough, and this powerful work for those seeking more clarity in their lives."

Sophie L. - Meditation Practitioner

Louisa is an unconventional but highly effective therapist using various methods to solve inner issues, focusing being one particularly useful one.I suffered from a lack of intuition and massively struggled with decision-making. Focusing with Louisa made me realise that my body holds deeper wisdom and that I can access it to make decisions faster and more intuitively without torturing myself as I did before in times where I had a lack of information.I recently moved to a country and city I fell in love with and bought an apartment there in the space of 2 months. This sort of decision would have tortured me previously to death. Thanks to focusing I could connect with my body and fill the gaps left by a lack of information, using my intuition. The work I did with her was transformative.

Last year I was on the precipice of changing my career and geographical location. It was a significant decision, and I felt the weight of wanting to get it right. I booked a session with Louisa to ascertain my true priorities. The questions asked and the process of the session enabled me to home in on what would genuinely make me happy, rather than what I felt I “should” do.I left with a clearer sense of direction and greater confidence in my judgement. The session also sparked a period of deeper reflection and journaling afterwards. It helped me continue the process in a more intentional way and ultimately make the changes necessary to step into a new path.

Hi, I'm Louisa. 👋

I discovered the power of Focusing while studying wellbeing counselling online, with KU Leuven. As someone deeply connected to my emotions, self-guided Focusing amazed me, revealing subtle but important parts waiting to be seen.Later, when I received a session from an experienced guide (who became my teacher), I felt the true depth of the work. The shifts were profound, leaving me lighter and clearer. This experience changed me, and I knew I had to share it with others.Focusing alone is powerful.
Focusing with a skilled guide takes you places you can't reach alone.
Being met with a caring, attentive presence, while gently guided into your body, is deeply transformative. As a trained guide, Focusing is now at the core of my practice. I also draw from 3,000+ hours of one-to-one guidance and a range of psychological, somatic, and holistic approaches to relief and wellbeing.

I also bring my lived experience as a kind, caring, and empathetic human who has travelled widely and holds a Master’s degree in Social Anthropology. This gives me a cultural and humanistic lens to relate to people from many backgrounds and belief systems.

When I'm not geeking out about wellbeing I love to walk with my rescue dogs, listen to audiobooks, dance, do qi gong, and create magical worlds as a story leader in Dungeons and Dragons. And do the occasional moon ritual by the beach! 🌙

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Focusing Therapy?

No. Focusing is not psychotherapy, but it is therapeutic. It was developed through psychotherapy research and works very well alongside therapy, and also without. Many people use it to deepen ongoing therapeutic work, while others use it as a standalone reflective practice.

Is Focusing evidence-based? The science behind the method.

Yes. Focusing was developed from psychotherapy outcome research in the 1960s, when scientists observed that clients who connected with their bodily experience were significantly more likely to benefit from therapy. It is now recognised as an evidence-based practice, supported by decades of research.A review by Hendricks (2002) examined 89 studies demonstrating its effectiveness including emotional regulation, decision-making, and wellbeing.Focusing was created by Eugene Gendlin and heavily influenced by his colleague and mentor, Carl Rogers, considered a founding father of person centered therapy and psychology in general.

Is Focusing meditation? How is it different?

Focusing shares something with mindfulness and meditation: it invites you to pause and notice what is happening in the present moment, especially in the body. The difference is that Focusing actively engages language and meaning-making to encourage forward shifts.Rather than simply observing sensations, we stay with them until they take shape as symbols, words, images, emotions, or insights. It is a process that helps integrate feeling and thinking, body and mind.In that sense, it is both contemplative and creative.

Can I practise Focusing on my own?

Yes. Although originally designed to be with a guide, Focusing is a skill that can be practised alone and in your daily life. That’s something you can learn with me if you choose a longer session package. That said, receiving the undivided, attentive presence of an empathetic and skilled guide is a very different and special experience.Being deeply listened to in a safe space makes the experience more powerful. It allows us to sit more fully with what is present, feeling supported, seen, and accompanied. This often leads to shifts that feel more profound, healing, and lasting.

What happens in a session?

Firstly I bring you into your body, and we begin with what feels most present for you.I invite you to slow down and notice what is happening there. I will guide you carefully and intuitively, helping you stay find language for what you are experiencing. All in a supportive way. We allow the process to unfold at a pace that feels right for you.Sessions often include moments of clarity, release, or new perspective - but they are never forced. At around 40 minutes, we come to a natural stopping point and move into integration, gently reflecting on our session, and marking any key insights or feelings to take with you.

Will this work for me?

Focusing works well for many thoughtful, reflective people, especially those open to exploring their emotions. You don’t need to be “good at feeling your body” to benefit. A willingness to slow down and be curious about your experience is enough. The most reliable way to know if it’s right for you is to try a session. If it resonates, we continue. If not, you will still leave with greater clarity about what you need next.

Calling thoughtful people who feel unsettled or stuck, and want to receive calm and clarity

Curious about your body’s wisdom? A guided 1:1 Focusing session with me is a simple yet powerful place to start. When thinking isn't enough, you're overwhelmed, or ready for a different approach, you’re warmly invited to work with me.I look forward to meeting you. 🤍
